Hawai’i Loa: Hilo
Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts provides mentorship to Hawai`'i's youth by teaching them Hawaiian Values through Hawaiian Culture, Stories, Art and Education. Hawaiʻi Loa Hilo is a program specifically designed for middle through high school youth in Hilo. Hoʻōla has the privilege of partnering with KS Kaiāulu Hilo and friends. Focusing on the Hawaiian Value of Aloha in various ways, we take our haumana on a journey through Hilo, teaching the youth mele, moʻolelo and arts about the beauty of their ʻāina. We spend a large part of our time creating an original mele to elevate the voices of our youth through song. Below you will find 2 original pieces written and performed by the youth of Hoʻōla Music and Cultural Arts 2023 & 2024 Fall Intersession programs.
